Pitchfork Music Festival has announced a new event in conjunction with this year’s festival on Thursday, July 14. A screening of the new Amazon Freevee series Sprung will take place at the Logan Theatre, including a panel and Q&A featuring series stars James Earl, Phillip Garcia, and Clare Gillies. It will be moderated by Pitchfork staff writer Allison Hussey. RSVP here.

From the acclaimed comedy creator Greg Garcia (Raising Hope, My Name Is Earl), Sprung follows Jack (Garret Dillahunt), who, after being released from prison unexpectedly due to the pandemic, bands together with an unlikely group of formerly incarcerated individuals to use their criminal expertise for good.

Sprung premieres August 19. The series features Phillip Garcia as Jack’s former cellmate Rooster, James Earl as the opportunistic Melvin, and Clare Gillies as Wiggles—a woman who is searching for someone who can stay out of prison long enough to be a decent father. The show also stars Shakira Barrera as Jack’s former prison girlfriend and Martha Plimpton as Rooster’s mom, Barb.

Pitchfork Music Festival 2022 takes place in Chicago’s Union Park from July 15-17. Headlining the festival are the National, Mitski, and the Roots, and additional performers include Japanese Breakfast, Earl Sweatshirt, and Arooj Aftab. Passes are still available here, so be sure to buy your tickets soon!
