In addition to Adam Wingard’s Godzilla vs. Kong sequel, which was just dated for 2024 release, the “MonsterVerse” is also spawning a live action television series for Apple TV+, which will feature Godzilla and various other Titans. Today brings the very first casting news.

The Wrap reports that Anna Sawai (“Pachinko,” “F9”), Ren Watabe (“461 Days of Bento”), Kiersey Clemons (“Zack Snyder’s Justice League”), Joe Trippett (“Mare of Easttown,” “The Morning Show”) and Elisa Lasowski (“Versailles”) will star in the untitled series.

Here’s the synopsis we’ve been provided with: “Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real, the untitled series explores one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.”

The untitled small screen project is created by Chris Black and Matt Fraction, with Black showrunning. The project is being produced by Legendary Television and Toho Co. Ltd.

Matt Shakman (“WandaVision”) will direct the first two episodes.

Godzilla vs. Kong was the fourth film in the MonsterVerse, which kicked off with Godzilla in 2014 and continued with Kong: Skull Island in 2017 and Godzilla: King of the Monsters in 2019.
