We love Alison Hammond, even when The Great British Bake Off host accidentally puts her foot in it.
The Bake Off host has been an undeniable hit since she joined the beloved Channel 4 series in 2023. She presents show alongside Noel Fielding and judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.
As a presenting duo, Alison and Noel follow on from Noel and Matt Lucas who in turn followed Noel and Sandi Toksvig. Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc, who presented the show while it aired on the BBC, were the original hosts.

Last week, while appearing on Heart Radio, Hammond revealed she had met Giedroyc very recently. But she said the encounter hadn’t gone as smoothly as she’d have liked.
The meeting occurred on the set of the comedy show, Last One Laughing. Hammond said she was approached by her Bake Off predecessor, Giedroyc, who said how much she enjoyed Hammond on the show.
“Oh my god, you don’t have to say that,” Hammond said of the exchange. She then added, “[Giedroyc’s] so graceful and so beautiful – classy woman.” But then she put her foot in her mouth. “At the end I went ‘say hello to Mel for me”.
According to Hammond, Giedroyc replied, “I will – and Sue.”

In a fit of laughter after recounting the story, Hammond cackled: “[I] absolutely ruined it at the end, she’s never going to forgive me.”
If we know about Mel Giedroyc, is that she will have taken it all in good favour and will likely have laughed about it herself.
This year’s crop of contestants featured four queer bakers including one drag king.
The Great British Bake Offairs weekly on Tuesdays from 8pm on Channel 4.
