Rotom, a Pokemon that originates from the Sinnoh region makes an appearance in Pokemon Sword & Shield. This guide will help players capture one and learn about how to change it to its various forms. Pokemon Sword and Shield introduced the wild area to the Pokemon series. For the first time ever, players were allowed to control their character with a free camera and explore a massive and expansive landscape with hundreds of Pokemon to encounter. Players can spend hours exploring the wild area to find every Pokemon and never get bored with what they find. The Pokemon Sword & Shield expansion pass included two more wild areas, even more, diverse than the first, as part of its paid content. Rotom is a Pokemon that appears in the wild area. Rotom is a special Pokemon that comes from the Sinnoh region. In Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, players would need to go deep into the Eterna Forest until they found a haunted manor. Deep inside the manor is a tv with the power still on. When the player interacted with the tv, Rotom, the Ghost-Electric type Pokemon would pop out of the tv and battle the trainer. In Pokemon Platinum, new forms were introduced to Rotom that transformed it into a wide variety of housing appliances. Rotom does make an appearance in Pokemon Sword & Shield and this guide will help players find one.
Rotom (& All Its Form) in Pokemon Sword & Shield
Players can find Rotom in the wild area. The player will need the bike upgrade that allows the bike to cross bodies of water. Rotom will spawn in the Lake of Outrage part of the wild area but only during thunderstorms. Players can change the date on their Nintendo Switch to change the weather. Even with the thunderstorms, players only have a 2% chance for it to spawn. Once it does, it will zip around the area at high speeds. When battling it, it will be level 60 so be ready with a strong Pokemon. After catching it, players can change their forms by heading over to Wyndon. Go inside the house with the orange roof and a man with a bike helmet will give the player the Rotom Catalog. This item can use this item to change Rotom’s forms.
Rotom was fortunate enough to be one of the older Pokemon to appear in the base Pokemon Sword & Shield. Over 400 Pokemon were cut from the Galar region to save time and resources on the development. Although, the Pokemon Sword & Shield expansion pass is planning to release over 200 older Pokemon for fans to capture. The Isle of Armor, the first part of the expansion pass, has released with over 100 older Pokemon like Emolga and Zorua. The Crown Tundra is scheduled to release later this Fall with plenty of new and old Pokemon as well as a new wild area to explore. Hopefully, players can find a Rotom of their own if the Pokemon Company finally decides to create a Pokemon Diamond & Pearl remake.
