Avengers/Justice League Crossover Turns Thanos & Darkseid Into Rap Gods

Movies

Thanos and Darkseid become rap gods in a new piece of Marvel/DC crossover fan art. Thanos and Darkseid are both considered some of the most powerful villains in their respective universes. Both of them made their first appearance in the ’70s and have since crossed paths with the Avengers and the Justice League in multiple comic books and animated adventures over the years.

Despite Darkseid being one of the most notorious DC villains, he has yet to appear on the big screen. The character was supposed to appear in Justice League but was cut from the film once Joss Whedon took over. On the other hand, the first ten years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe were devoted to building up Thanos as the ultimate threat to the universe. Thanos was the Mad Titan who wanted to wipe out half of all living things to balance the universe and met his fate at the hands of Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame. While Thanos and Darkseid are both brutal adversaries to their respective superheroes, what if they teamed up and chose a different career path?

A new piece of artwork from SPDRMNKYXXIII shows Thanos and Darkseid preparing to drop some beats as rappers. The artwork is in the form of an album cover called “Snapokolips” which the artist said was based on the album Hell: The Sequel from the hip-hop duo Bad Meets Evil. The artist’s original Instagram post can be seen below:

Fans are usually in disagreement over whether DC or Marvel is better. Marvel movies have excelled when it comes to both critics and box office numbers, with Avengers: Endgame making history as the highest-grossing film of all time. Warner Bros. had some trouble kicking off their DC Extended Universe but has seen more success as of late as they step away from trying to create a giant cinematic universe and focus on solo superhero projects. Regardless of which side fans are on when it comes to Marvel and DC, most comic book fans will appreciate this art.

Marvel and DC fans will likely find this artwork humorous as it is turning two of the most vicious supervillains into rappers. Even the title of the album is clever, combining Thanos’ “snap” with Darkseid’s home-world Apokolips. There have been countless debates on whether Thanos could beat Darkseid, or vice versa, in battle, but this fan art makes people think of an even bigger question. Who would win in a rap battle?
