Trent Reznor, Kamasi Washington, RZA, More Nominated for 2020 Emmys

The nominees for the 2020 Emmy Awards have been announced. Among the nominees in the music categories are Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who picked up nods in Outstanding Music Composition For a Limited Series, Movie or Special (Original Dramatic Score) and Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for their work on HBO’s Watchmen.

Labrinth also received two nominations. He got nods for his work on HBO’s Euphoria: Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) and Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. In the former category, Labrinth faces Ludwig Göransson (The Mandalorian), Nicholas Britell (Succession), and others.

Then, in addition to Labrinth, Trent Reznor, and Atticus Ross, other Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics nominees include Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo (The Black Godfather).

In Outstanding Music Composition for a Documentary Series or Special (Original Dramatic Score), Mark Mothersbaugh (Tiger King) will face off with Kamasi Washington (Becoming).

Additional notable nominees include RZA (Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music for the Hulu series Wu-Tang: An American Saga) and Sheila E., Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis (Outstanding Music Direction for Let’s Go Crazy: The Grammy Salute to Prince).

Last year, Beyoncé’s Coachella set concert film Homecoming picked up six Emmy nominations. It didn’t win any awards. Springsteen on Broadway and Leaving Neverland both won awards. The big winners at last year’s show were Fleabag and Game of Thrones.
