The White Stripes’ Lyrics Collected in New Book

Along with Jack White’s words, The White Stripes Complete Lyrics includes essays from Hanif Abdurraqib, Ben Blackwell, and Caroline Randall Williams

The White Stripes’ collected lyrics are getting the book treatment this year, arriving in hardback via Third Man Books. Jack White’s words to his catalog with drummer Meg White will be presented with photos, alternate versions, and rough drafts, along with essays from Hanif Abdurraqib, Caroline Randall Williams, and Ben Blackwell. The White Stripes Complete Lyrics is out October 3.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the White Stripes’ 2003 album, Elephant, which got reissued. Earlier in 2023, Jack White recently published a poem on Instagram in tribute to his former bandmate, writing “To be born in another time/any era but our own would’ve been fine.” The post arrived in the wake of a social media flare-up that disparaged Meg White’s skills, with Questlove and Karen Elson joining the online crowd that rallied in her defense.
