‘Out Come the Wolves’ – ‘Backcountry’ Director’s New Survival Horror Movie Begins Production

Glenn Danzig (Verotika) brought his Vampire Spaghetti-Western Death Rider in the House of Vampires to select theaters back in 2021, you may recall, but it’s been quite a while since we’ve heard a peep about the project. Screen Daily breaks the silence this week, revealing that Death Rider in the House of Vampires is coming to Cannes this month.

Screen Daily reports, “VMI Worldwide has added action-horror feature Death Rider in the House of Vampires to its slate for the Cannes market.”

What does this mean? Well, it means that Danzig’s Death Rider in the House of Vampires will be going up for sale this month, which could bring us closer to a wide release. Beyond that limited theatrical release back in 2021, the film hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Stay tuned for more as we learn it.

Patrick Bromley wrote in his 2021 review for Bloody Disgusting, “Death Rider in the House of Vampires has all the charm of Verotika, and nearly all of its flaws, too. That’s probably damning praise, encouraging fans of the latter to seek out the former while scaring off those who found Danzig’s first film to be insufferable. I can’t fault either party for rushing out to see it or staying as far away from it as possible. It’s the kind of movie that’s not very good but still has me excited for whatever Danzig makes next.”

“In Death Rider in the House of Vampires, the mysterious “Death Rider” – clad all in black – travels thru the desert on horseback. His destination…Vampire Sanctuary. The entrance fee…one Female Virgin. Once inside he encounters Count Holliday, Vampire Lord of Sanctuary who warns him against any transgressions. Blood & Guns action follow as Death Rider tangles with some of the Vampires of Sanctuary like the smouldering Carmilla Joe with her sidekick Mina Belle and Vampire Gunslingers Drac Cassidy, Bad Bathory, Kid Vlad & Duke VonWayne.”

Final Destination‘s Devon Sawa (photo) plays the title character, the Death Rider in the house of vampires, with Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 star Kim Director (photo) playing Carmilla Jo and Julian Sands (photo) as Count Holliday, who rules the Vampire Sanctuary. Danzig himself appears in a supporting role as “Bad Bathory” alongside Danny Trejo and Eli Roth.

Everybody in the movie is a vampire,” Danzig had teased a while back now. “So, you won’t have to wait around to see the vampire. They’re all fucking vampires!”
