While the anime has only just kicked off the Elbaph Arc, One Piece‘s manga is deep into the climactic battle against Imu, and it’s clear now more than ever before that the series is truly in its Final Saga. After over twenty-five years, One Piece’s endgame is finally here, and it’s started out strong by revealing Imu in all his winged glory, who is all but certain to be the series’ final villain.
That said, Imu’s unveiling is only the beginning, and the Final Saga is sure to have many more big reveals in store, even in the Elbaph Arc alone. However, before diving fully into these and other mysteries that have been carefully set up for decades, One Piece needs to fix one major yet divisive issue, and before it’s too late.
One Piece Needs To Put an End to Spoilers Before Its Big Finale
It’s no secret that One Piece’s manga has been contending with leaks and spoilers for years on end, to the point that it’s almost become the norm for a good chunk of the fandom, at least in the West, to only read the fan translations that drop before the official release. Due to how weekly issues of Shonen Jump are distributed, it’s nearly impossible to crack down on these leaks or even track down the leakers in question in the supply chain.
One Piece’s Straw Hats Are About To Face Their Biggest Loss In 16 Years
One Piece chapter #1180 is setting the Straw Hat Pirates up for their biggest loss in over a decade, and that’s exactly what the story needs.
However, One Piece, or rather, Shueisha, may just need to attempt to do the impossible before One Piece ends, or risk ruining the story that Eiichiro Oda has carefully crafted for decades, which is finally unfolding before our eyes. Beyond the subjective ethical concerns surrounding leaks, the main issue lies in the fact that, due to how widespread they’ve become, One Piece spoilers are quite literally unavoidable.
It isn’t a matter of personal choice anymore, and many of One Piece’s biggest reveals in recent years serve as excellent examples. Whether you liked it or not and whether you were fully caught up or not, it was nigh impossible to avoid spoilers about Gear Five when it debuted in the manga a few years prior, and the same happened again recently with Imu’s design. History will definitely repeat itself when Joyboy is eventually revealed, and worst-case scenario, even the final treasure itself.
One Piece Manga Leaks Are Ruining the Experience
That said, beyond just spoiling those who do not wish to be spoiled, One Piece’s manga leaks are objectively ruining the reading experience as a whole. What was meant to be a sixteen or seventeen-page chapter full of nuance, little easter eggs, and visual storytelling is first reduced to a bare bones summary. These breadcrumbs leave fans desperate to get their hands on the chapter as soon as possible, even if that is in the form of poor-quality raw scans of the Japanese release.
While the official translation isn’t by all means perfect, it does often clear up many misunderstandings created by the spoilers and also provide proper context in many cases. Regardless of the reasons for which one may prefer the fan translation, the official release is always worth cross-referencing, especially with AI now having entered the mix.

Real one, I hope people understand it was a sarcasm lol.nUsing Ai to scale this is the reason why we get panels like what we got above.😂 pic.twitter.com/SFiIb25xqSn— WorstGenHQ (@WorstGenHQ) April 17, 2026

Many fan translations have recently begun incorporating AI into the process, specifically to upscale the low-quality raw scans. This most recently led to a misunderstanding wherein Zoro appeared to have opened his scarred left eye against Imu in Chapter #1180 when, in fact, the AI upscale had distorted the image in the process.
That said, more than anything, spoilers hardly give fans time to truly mull over the latest release before the leaks for the next chapter are already out. Spoilers are killing the anticipation surrounding One Piece’s biggest reveals as well as the theory crafting that has kept the community alive for decades, and it needs to be fixed before One Piece truly heads into endgame territory, such as Laugh Tale and the truth regarding the Void Century.
